Covid-19 Safety Measures……
Following the Government’s announcement that it is relaxing some of the restrictions around the coronavirus pandemic, we are so happy to be open that we have taken all guidelines and responded to them with the highest respect for everyone’s safety.
This is great news, but we want to reassure you, are loyal customers, that your wellbeing is our number one concern.
We have worked very hard to ensure we can comply with the government guidance and have made some necessary changes in order to keep you safe.
Our new table setting arrangements have been designed to enable you to remain socially distanced from other diners, and we are keeping the room well ventilated so you may wish to bring a jumper, shawl or jacket.
Upon arrival at the restaurant you will be asked to sanitize your hands and follow all our safety measures when in the building.
As the Crab House isn’t very large we will have some arrival and exit restrictions in place.
Only one person, couple or family from a bubble will be able to use the toilets at any one time.
All payments will be contact-free, either via bank card, Apple pay or Samsung pay and our machine is sanitized between each user.
Bookings can only be groups of three household bubbles at a maximum of 6 persons alongside new government laws and not mixed individual groups as this is our company policy, we must have your contact details of a contact number and email address to comply with the track and trace initiative.
All our staff are used to following strict hygiene and safety measures but will obviously need to get a little closer to you when serving your meals and drinks. Do tell our staff if you wish us to remain further away and help us by passing plates or pushing your dirty glasses etc to the edge of the table.
They usually like shaking hands and even hugging our regular visitors, but we’re sure you’ll understand why this won’t be appropriate in the current climate.
This is a new world for all of us and we are all learning together, so please bear with us. Thank you for all the support you have shown us over the past months.
Making a Reservation…
Call Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 10pm or email, during service times we may struggle to answer all calls but we do respond to all voicemails as soon as time allows
During service times it may be harder to answer the phone so do leave a message or email and we will call back as soon as we can.
Phone Reservations are not available after 4-5pm on a Sunday and all day Mondays – 01328 710456
All bookings will require a mobile number, email address and card details to be accepted.
We request that you try not to come into the restaurant to make a booking whilst we our managing our capacity.

If there is no on-line availability this would mean we are fully booked on our lower capacity sittings, you could email us to be added to our cancellation list, but do leave all your details. Please be aware we do not have any walk in tables, we are bookings only.
Couldn’t get a table then book a Takeaway 🙂 We update our Website each Monday with our @home Friday and Saturday Meals 🙂
How are bookings work …
We have a new layout, a metre plus apart and screens for your safety. This does mean we will be accepting less covers and have fewer tables for yours and our safety.
We relay the 5.30pm & 6pm tables later at 7.30pm and 8pm and all other bookings have their table all night, until the curfew. If you require your table longer than the allocated 1.5 hours then do email us and we will do our best to accommodate you, but be aware our reservations get booked quickly.
All customers must be paid and vacated by 9.55pm alongside the Government’s News.
We will always communicate your table leave times with you so may mean you only have time for two courses if you take time to choose or order dishes that take longer to cook, and we appreciate if you could tell us of any dietary needs, children who need children’s menus and any special occasions prior to your arrival. Please be aware we do not allow sprinkles on our tables but banners and helium balloons (only) are more than welcome.
We are a small restaurant with differing sizes of tables so do let us know if you require more space for your dining experience.
We do not accept dogs in our small restaurant and we do not have an outside area, but guide dogs are always welcome.
Children are welcome and we have a children’s menu, but under 5’s are only permitted at lunchtime and in our first sitting until 7.30pm so again may only mean two courses in this time frame. Unfortunately we only have room for one pram in the restaurant and remainder prams or pushchairs would need to be folder and left at the bar and a highchair would be supplied.
We have a ramp for Wheelchairs but I am afraid we do not have a Disabled Toilet on our premises. The two restaurants in Wells that do are The Globe Inn and The Crown Hotel.
All online bookings will get an email reminder with our safety advice and we may call to confirm your booking if some time has lapsed since making your booking.
We kindly ask that you stick to your reservation time whilst we manage social distancing safety, unless you have called to say you are running late then we will advice of the next entry time. Then we will hold your table but this may result in less time on your allocated table.
Please note that parking in Wells can be much harder during peak times and weekends, so do arrive earlier to get a space as can be very limited.
All phone and online bookings are guaranteed by your credit or debit card number to secure your reservation, however, no money is charged to your card unless you fail to turn up to your reservation or notify us by at least 3 hours before that service starts whether via email, phone or a voicemail as we can log the time, then a charge of £15 per person will be charged. All information is kept securely by PCI and managed by Stripe Payments.
As a small Restaurant we welcome larger parties and allow one large party at a time as two bubbles only and 8-10 maximum whilst abiding by the government regulations.
We close in the month of January from the 4th for maintenance………………..
